Porkers
I hear and read all the time about feral hogs in MO. Ive contacted MDC about where to go to find "huntable" populations and they pretty much read straight off some paperwork that gives general info to the public. They want these pigs thinned out but dont seem to wanna give out much info on them? Do any of u fellas know where a guy could go( in missouri ) to have a decent chance to harvest a littlt piggie?? thanks fellas!

MDC and Forest Service both tell me if I really want to shoot a feral pig go to Texas. We had some around Dixon and Ft. Wood a few years ago one guy I work with shot one he was right spot right time they were crossing a logging road during deer season. I chased after them on the Irish wilderness area, Ft Wood and a few other spots on gov land no luck. Last year off J hwy on forest service property they (forest service) had bait stations set up and got some on camera but never seen any during day. Good luck maybe someone on the conservation page will post.

Was some on the Pomme arm on Truman lake last year but gone this year,no signs along the bank and no sightings.Heard the Conservation people are trying to keep them thinned out, wish them luck.I raise a hog or two to eat every year, have no interest in chasing one around in the woods. As many diseases they carry,I would not want to touch it.

Probably not a thick enough population up here to make a consistent hunting program out of. I lived down in Little Rock, my x-brother in law guided hunts with dogs. They typically stuck em with a long knife that was how good the dogs were. I never ate wild pork that was much good.

Thanks guys, guess i'll stick to the barnyard brand!

You are not missing anything not eating it. I tried and tried to like it, they acted like it was the best they ever tasted, I sure couldn't figure it out so I skipped the "after the hunt" feast they had after the first couple of round. My last meal had so much hot sauce and BBQ sauce on it between a bun, it could have been rotten fish for all that mattered.

I never was convinced it would be all that good either. Never tried it. Trapped and corned for 90 days, maybe.
