I have been using one for a pretty long time now for about 6 years and love it. I sell Peak and I also have Renzetti Saltwater Traveler, but I use my Nor all the time. The down side is cost and if you end up not liking the straight jaw that comes with it then your option is the fine point jaw and that is another $85 to $95 for it. I have several different jaws and have ended up mixing she counter weight from the large straight jaw and the small straight jaw as my favorite. The fine point if especially made for tying tails on because the straight jaw does take some getting use to when tying tails. I mean lots of flies don't really have a tail so then they don't need other than a straight jaw.
It depends on why you want one actually and how you want to use it and these will say if it's worth it for you or not. I like it because I can spin it to do my thread base for the most part and my shoulder is shot so that helps me a good bit. Originally when I bought it the biggest reason I wanted it was the easy way you can use dubbing with it over a normal vise. However I have even changed how I do dubbing (now use Rope Dub Method) to use a different method and now my Nor doesn't have a huge advantage for me now for that. I still love it though!
Thanks Skip, I'm just thinking it would make tying some jig styles faster. I'm wanting to expand my jig styles, I'd more than likely buy both jaw styles and some of the other items. I just want something different lol. I'm sure I don't need it to be able to tie but I always try to buy above and beyond what I need lol.
Thank you sir
The people who like them tend to REALLY like them. This guy uses one and has lots of Youtube videos:

after I seen Skip use the nor- vice I absolutely have to have one I will probably order mine real soon after I seen what it can do and you can rotate it it was a cat's meow it blew me away so I rank it number one out of all the vices that I've seen.
I don't think you would not like it mostly because how much I like mine. Also you may like his auto bobbins, but with them you have to put the thread on the spools, but if you get the little tool that attaches to your drill it's not so hard to do.
i would say get the regular straight jaw that it comes with and then if you don't like it then the fine point would be nice. I don't use the same pieces like he sells them though which makes it higher. However if you do any tying of large hooks you may also want the large straight jaw which is where I got the counter weight I use for all my jaws that I have for it. That helps spinning the jaws better for me on even like the fine point which I think he has 2 different ones unless he let the new one take over for the old one, I have both. If you want to talk send me a PM and I will give my phone number so you can call when you want. I will be gone for part of next week though.
Thanks Skip you sir are the man
