I'm gonna let Greg confirm this one...(He'll probably check in Monday)...
He's the expert on some of these compatibility questions...
I do know that a regular 2d xducer will not do any imaging...DI or SI..
Rickie
I’m on vacation today but I am checking in this morning as I am waiting for the grass to dry out enough to mow it as the ‘honey-do’ list just never seems to end…
The 550 should have been shipped with an XNT-9-20-T transducer. Did you epoxy it inside the hull or did you get it swapped out with an inside-the-hull XP-9-20-T version transducer? There should be some markings on the cable within the first three feet of the connector that state which it is.
Either way, this is a 2D DualBeam (200/83kHz) transducer which will work with any on our 200/83kHz DualBeam units. It can be used as a secondary 2d only transducer for the Si units, like for high-speed depth readings. It cannot be used with the DI model units as Rickie stated or you may cause internal component damage to the DI unit. Let me know the model unit you are contemplating and I will let you know if it is okay to use or not.
Just chip and sand the old epoxy away.
hi Greg.....I bought the boat used with the 550 in there, as for the ducer it looks like your basic transom ducer in which he put inside the hull(it works) , doesn't look like a puck tho .....I kind a like it in the hull. so thinking of up grading to color with DI and possibly GPS weather I need it or not. now if I where to take out the ducer and epoxy what is the easiest way to dismember that area (ducer and epoxy) so I can put in a new ducer in. thanks Glenn sorry ...both treads are almost alike.
Place a piece of wood beside it and smack it with a hammer...
The xducer will probably come out without the epoxy...
Then grind the epoxy down...
Rickie
with something like a dremel tool? I heard other people doing that.
Dremel tool or a sanding disc on a drill, both will work. You just want to prep the hull be getting all the old epoxy and any paint out. You want to be able to epoxy directly to the raw fiberglass.
When you place that piece of wood against the transducer, try and get the wood as parallel to the boat hull as possible so that the force from the blow will be directed against the transducer and not downwards into the hull. If you don’t want to try and reuse the transducer just skip the wood and whack the transducer itself.
greg like I was saying , i'm not sure if I want the GPS ...I guess it wouldn't hurt if the price was right, but I do want the HD, DI WITH COLOR. does the 561,570or 571 come with color and DH and DI only? or is those models GPS specific?
There are 3 models of the DI units in the 500 series that do not have GPS...
561 DI
571 HD DI
596c HD DI
The 596c HD DI is the only of the 3 that is color ...(indicated by the "c" in the model number)..
I don't think the "HD" in the 500 series units means anything in particular ...(unless we want to consider the 561 and 561 DI only have 320v X 320h resolution...but I don't think that's the "official" HB definition of the 500series HD)..
All of the 500 series from 571 and up have 640v pixels...(which will give a better picture quality when viewing a split "over and under" view)...
Any HB model with "Combo" in the name means GPS Chartplotter...

thanks rick ....this is the one i was looking for......
