Battery charger question...........

I have a MK 3 bank charger. One bank is for the starting battery, the other 2 are for my terrova 24 volt. After the last couple of trips, when I charge the batteries, one bank on one of the batteries goes to a blinking "full charge".....but the other battery stays in "absorption blinking" mode for several hours longer before the light moves to the blinking full charge column, like the other battery. What could be the cause....can the motor pull more juice out of one battery than the other? Eventually, the both get to full charge, but why 5-6 hours longer on one of the batteries?

blinking and absorption modes refer to a MK charger, dont know how other brands operate. thanks. Both batteries are fairly new group 31.

sounds like one battery is weaker than the other one......but check your connections and be sure they are clean and tight then try again. are both your batteries the same age, same size and type etc ? If not your weaker one will eventually pull the other one down to its level.

yep, g, both batteries were installed at the same time, and the same type.

:hesaidGet a hydrometer and check them, they could still have a weak cell in one of them. You could also have them checked by a dealer with a LOAD meter .

My MK charger did the same thing and finally one of the bats would never stop blinking. They were not new but wud charge up according to my meter. My understanding from MK was the charger wud charge them up to 14 V and then if they wud maintain that for 24 hrs while the blinking is going on they were good. Otherwise they were getting weak and the blinking wud continue until they did.
i replaced both mine and they last at least 25% more now.

Thanks, ez.......in your case, was the blinking in the charging column, or full charge column? Mine is blinking in the charging column.........what mk refers to as absorption mode before the light moves to full charge.

Called MK.............they recommended to swap leads to rule out defective lead.

Yes, it was fully charged, but wouldn't hold it at the maximum charge as it should..
I swapped leads and it followed the battery.

Check the water in em too duck, one of em low of water will make it do that too.

Yes, and I'm pretty sure that is what made my one battery get to where it wouldn't maintain a full charge.
