I just wanted a little boat to go fishing in....

I guess it was asking too much to buy one and want to make it legal by transferring it into our names and getting it properly registered. Long story short, cops got involved at the sellers residence and I got our money back.

Thank goodness I had text messages between the seller and myself that showed the police officers the boat was misrepresented. Still I feel real lucky to have come out of that deal with my money back rather than an unusable boat. Well it was usable, just not legal.

I guess I've been lucky not to have had a problem before. Buyer beware for sure.

We would have brought our boat if we thought we would have any time to fish. But normally Terry has to work 7 days a week to meet the schedule on these little buildings they are pumping out. But the city of Warrenton where we are has strict rules about no construction work on weekends. So we found we have some time to fish and were looking at buying something small and inexpensive to fish in on the weekends.... maybe a used gheenoe or john boat. Found several john boats in a low price range but they sold really quickly and we missed out on them. So, one was posted last night and it looked perfect for what we wanted. Texted with the guy, everything was good and I drove this morning to look at it and end up buying it... only after I took it to DMV (right after I paid for it I went to DMV so we could use it legally) I found out it wasn't legal or legal-able (new word... lol). But other than being out some gas money and time, I got lucky and with the help of the local police was able to get my money back without having to file a lawsuit which would have been such a hassle and probably not worth the cost of the boat but would have been worth it based on principle.

That's the thing... all you crappie dot com gewbers, gubers, goobers, geezers, all you ol codgers by any name are the best and have helped us out so much already. Many of our fun fishing trips have been from info people on here shared with us. Anyways since we didn't get the john boat and my nerves couldn't handle another dose of that type of drama anytime again soon... lol, we decided to go rent a canoe again tomorrow on the Shenandoah and try for some more river monsters! Probably going to take the helmet cam to document the action when I land those 4" bream and tiny baby smallmouths... :-) Ginny
