trading boats
I have a chance to trade my boat for a triton tr20 with low hours and has been kept in good shape. I havent been around the tritons much and am just wanting some advice on the triton boats. Ride, fishability, and quality. the boat has a 200 hp optimax with a jack plate, hot foot, blinker trim. Im not looking for super fast but 65 and smooth would be about all im looking for. Im a crappie fisherman not a bass fisherman but I do like the way a fiberglass rides and fishes. I have a 2005 xpress with a 115 and im just looking for something a little smoother with pump outs and all the gadgets to help keep fish alive during tourneys and the deck space. My aluminum boat is just a little light for spider rigging and dipping trees. I have to stay on the trolling motor a little more than i would like but still a solid boat.

Dave.."Got Crappie" runs a Triton and I think he's pretty happy with it. I say if the price is right, it would be a nice step up. I'll be stuck with my 'kite' for a long time. If I could upgrade to glass for a decent price, I'd probably jump at it.

I love my Triton. If I got another boat, that's where I'd probably head back to Triton first.

I have had mine for 11 years and not had any problems at all from it just routine maintenance and it still looks as good as new. The guys i knew with the larger TR21"s with the 250 hp did have some issues with the chine walk but i would expect a smooth 65 mph ride with the 200. I do keep it garaged or covered. It's not quite as big as the one you are scoping out and I have a 150 yammy. It will gps about 58-59 on an average day and has to be my favorite ride so far (hence I have kept it for a long time) with no intention of selling any time in the future. Very stable platform and all around solid boat. Not having payments makes the older models even more attractive.

Is that tr20 with the 200hp under powered? What is it rated for? Might not be something that matters to you but I know it would bug the tar out of me! Just giving ya something to think about! Good luck! I have heard lots of good things about tritons!

I have 2000 TR 20 with 200 Optimax and it has all power needed. Is stable and is fine for spider riggin etc.
Had 2 Rangers before this but both were 18 ft. The only thing I would definitely do different would be to get some with single console for crappie fishing. My dual console cramps the TR 20 up a bit.

I have a TR21 with a 225 Yamaha. Runs smooth plus when your dippin the weight of the boat keeps you from getting blown in circles. Good choice
