I seen this on another post:

The US2 supports any Humminbird unit capable of using the 200/83kHz DualBeam sonar. Here are the current Humminbird sonar-GPS models that can use the US2:
386ci Combo
597ci HD Combo
788ci HD Combo
858c HD
958c HD 1158c

There are many more older model Humminbird units that can also use the 200/83kHz DualBeam sonar and have GPS like the 581i Combo you mentioned.

I have a 597cihd / us2/ terrova. My question is if i want to ugrade and go bigger, can I just unplug my 597 and plug any of the listed (example 958chd or 1158 c) into my existing mount? Without changing anything else? Just pop off old head and pop new one on and go fishing?

Yep as long as the unit isn't di or si.

Thanks Mike.......I mainly want a bigger screen and dual card slots (for my navionics card).......Kinda expensive just for that, but i might just do it.

The larger units 800, 900 and 1100 series have a gimbal mount not the quick switch mount like on your 597.
Although the power and transducer wires have the same connectors, the larger units have a different style adapter for the wiring to the head unit. On the larger units it's separate from the mount.

Thanks... I will have to check into that... So its not as easy as plug n fish.....

As far as mounting no--as they do have different type bases.
Also as far as using the US2 teh 8,9,11 series all have models without DI and SI I think so you would be good to go getting one of those.
Myself I have 597 at console and 788 up front (dual card slots) I have found that the dual card slots aren't really needed as your waypoints can be uploaded (which are stored on the unit) as well as any new one's you mark as stored on the unit as well then take the card out and put the nav card in--but if your lazy like me it is nice to have the two slots:)

Good to know... Thanks... Will have to play with it a lil...will just put the nav card up front next trip out and see how i like the lil screen :)

Looks like these guys got you covered information-wise. I would point out though that many like the dual card slots because they want to use a mapping card and at the same time be able to make Screen Snapshots or make sonar recordings.

597 would be perfect if it had 2 slots but then it would be a 788.
