Monday-Suffolk-134 crappie.

I had my 6th best day fishing for crappie numbers wise and went over 100 for the 10th time today. I was expecting to catch around 45 crappie but not 134. What can I say, the bite was on. 8 of my 10 spots that I tried today produced at least 8 crappie with only two of them not producing any. I caught them anywhere from 8' down to 20' down but most were caught 10' to 14' deep over brush in water anywhere from 15'-20' deep. No minnows were harmed today as I go with jigs only and I had luck casting Kalin's Money jig, BGBS in pearl, pearl/chartreuse, pearl/blue, pearl/pink, (see a pattern?) and a few on black/pink. I also had great luck with my two poles hanging over the side, one with a pearl/chartreuse wasshoppah tipped with a crappie nibble, and the other with a solid chartreuse wasshoppah also tipped with a crappie nibble. I could tell when my crappie nibble was gone as I would rarely get a bite. Average size was 9"-10" with only a few at 11" and maybe two at 12" including this guy.

Even though there were no monsters it was a fun day of the water and the rain stayed away so I am a happy camper. Surface water temp was 80-84.

That sounds like a great day. I'm fairly new on here, never posted, but that sounded like such a good day I thought I would say way to go! I was on one of the Suffolk lakes on Sat and Mon and also got on 'em both days. Used minnows 6' down in 12' of water. I was happy with the couple of dozen I caught each day. Guess I still have a lot to learn!

Great Day, Tap! I'm happy ya quit killin all those minnows! LOL!! I've found I need to use minnows late winter/early spring, but the rest of the yr jigs are the way to go!

WTG George, a good day,if you get a chance one day ,try cutting a piece of a BRIGHT worm about the size of a nibble and try it,I tried it a few times with good success but I rarely use anything but just a stinger grub

That is a lot of fish! A fish a minute for 2 hours and 18 min. or a fish every 2 min for 4.5 hours or a fish every 4 min for 9 hours. That is flat out slaying em'. They every give ya a break to eat?

3 -12" fish could take the $$ this time of year.

I fished from 6:55-4:30. To give you a better idea of when the bite was hottest I text my wife (for me since I am a stats freak) when I get a line in the water and then every 10 crappie caught and every crappie caught at 1lb or more. Here's the results.

09:12-20 took 100 minutes
10:43-30 took 91 minutes
10:57-40 took 14 minutes
11:18-50 took 21 minutes
11:53-60 took 35 minutes
12:30-70 took 37 minutes
01:35-80-took 65 minutes
01:58-90-took 23 minutes
02:24-100 took 26 minutes
02:34-110 took 10 minutes
03:22-120 took 48 minutes
04:00-130 took 38 minutes

Then it took me 30 minutes to catch the last 4 and I left. Also, I eat while I fish so I am fishing non stop when I am on the water.
