There are some nice fish, but not nearly what there used to be. Tons of fish 6-8" that are taken out each year does not help. Keep moving and you kind find some nice fish, fall and winter can be good and there aren't any boats out. 8-12' deep would be good place to start. They used to have maps with brush pile locations, not sure if those are still around. If you have a descent locator, you can locate spots scattered all around the lake.
Ok thank you anything helps
We fished Forbes on Thursday. Water temp 86 degrees and stained. Could not find any bigger crappie, caught lots of 6-8" fishing 8 ft deep on brush in 12-20 ft water. We had the lake to ourselves until the Thursday night bass tournament started. My son did catch 2, 2-3 lb channel cats on minnows in the brush. Buy minnows if needed at the Lakeside Marina. Lady is generous with them! You can stop at lake headquarters and get a map showing brush piles. State puts brush in same location each time they put it out. Many brush piles are well rotted down due to lack of x-mas trees to replenish. It is a pretty lake and when not busy with ski boats and bass tournaments is a nice quiet place to fish and watch wildlife.
