Not just the bays. The main channel is full of bait-balls also.
Don't know about Ky/Barkley .... but, Taylorsville Lake sure enough has them. Was there this past Saturday, and Shad were EVERYWHERE !! I had 5-6 baitballs showing on the DF screen, many times during the day. Some so thick with Shad that the image was a solid white blob !! There seemed to be about 3 different sizes of them ... of the ones I saw, anyway ... ranging from the less than 2" to the 4-5" lengths.
What surprised me was that I never saw any Hybrid Striper "jumps" ... other than the occasional single. But, considering all the Shad we saw ... I guess they really don't have to herd the schools to the surface to feed on them  (& probably why we didn't get any hits when we were trolling for them).
... cp :kewl
I'm really worried that not only the shad had good spawns, but the Asians also. The crappie and bass we have been catching trolling look like pre-spawn, bloated full of bait.
Is anyone seeing signs of the crappie eating the Asian Carp fry...(when cleaning crappie)...??
Rickie
Rickie I'm pretty sure that a few I've cleaned this year have had carp in them. But I can't say for sure, identifying partially digested baitfish isn't my strong suit. Would be interesting to know if P Rister and company have done any research on this.
Paul will be at the North Ky Lake shindig at the end of September..
