Fit lake Sawyer today
This should say I HIT Lake Sawyer today.
The wife and I went up to Lake sawyer today to give it a try.
She caught 2 nice perch and one dink smallmouth and I got 2 dink smallmouths.
I was messing around with a crankbait and got a smallmouth that was about half the size of the bait.
No Crappies but we did have a good time.

Sounds like a good time. Those perch are nice in there for sure. The crappies are tricky for sure. All the boat traffic in the summer makes it tuff. If you can sneak out there on a slow day check out the bay straight in front of you as you head out from the launch. They seem to hang out in the back of the bay in the morning and will move to the middle of the bay or on the sides of the big main lake point during the middle of the day (during summer that is...they also will sit on that point all winter long some years). Head around the point and work that whole woody bank until you hit the houses. Then fish all those docks...they stack up along there all summer feeding on fry. Off the creek mouths are good to early and late in the day (during summer). I alway check the creek mouths during the winter and spring too.....lots of bait moving in and out of there and the crappie will wait them out. It is hit or miss out there most days but when you hit they are nice.

Thanks for the good info SlabKing, We didn't get out until around noon yesterday and there were a few skiers and tubers out too. But yes we did have a good time. I am quickly coming to the conclusion that instead of being a Crappie fisherman, I fit more in the category of "crappy" fisherman, at least when it comes to Crappie. :Rofl
Maybe sometime I will get a chance to go out with you or one of the other more experienced guys and pick up some pointers. Until then I will just keep trying.
Be sure to look for the crappie.com stickers in local tackle stores. I have put some up at a couple this week.
