Lo- tek question on a Hi-tek

I dont have any high tek-stuff on my boat. But been thing about them knobs old Handi sale. How often do you adjust you rod holder. I'm been thinking, if you set then to your rods why would I need to be adjust them and need them knobs? I think them knob are great if I going to have move my poles every time I go out. So all you trolling guys tell me how often do you have to adjust them? I only had to pleaser to fish with two guys the trolled and I do member them adjusting the holder. maybe they did but I'm old and forget thing. I got get me some where I can be in with the big Loser:scratchhead

There are many variables that could make u adjust... I use mine for both front and back. So i have to adjust from
Pulling vs pushing, winds/wake, changing weight size while pushn, these are just a few. If its once a trip, the knobs are well worth it!!

I think I was one of the guys you are referring to and yes, I adjusted them a time or two.

I can see you need to adjusting the from front to back. But on the front how come you need to adjust them every time you went out. If you change rods yes, but same rods I would not think you need too. I think you fix the where when they snag they move to help from breaking something. But i think normal fishing they be fine with it spot.

The only time I seem to need to adjust my hi teks is when I switch from fishing by myself up front to adding another person. And I'm so slow it takes me a minute everytime to figure it out... "Why are my rod tips underwater??...oh yeah last time I was by myself, this time both seats up front are ful"...and vice versa. Now I just kinda split the difference and never really adjust at all. Helps that I have 2 sets for front and 2 more for stern. I like hi teks like they are.. No knobs for me. Hope this helps, Brad

Ok... I like my tips less than a foot off the water. If im using 1/2 oz weight and change to 1 oz then i would adjust to keep tips out of water. Or if its just windy that day i would adjust them up some to keep em from hitting the water from the boat "rocking". Or if hammerhead is with me up front i would have to adjust my side down cause he is bigger than me :)..... Or if my son is up front i may have to adjust my side up cause he is a light weight :)

I just like the idea of "not"having to say where did that wrench go! Personnal preference i guess...

I fixed that problem ... I have this on both of my Hi-Tek rod holders : Roger's Products Handie Hold It

A 1/2"-7/16" box end wrench from the Dollar Store will hang in the outer 'pocket' of the drink holder, as will a small socket wrench with 1/2" socket (that's what I have on the two Hi-Tek holders I own). You can also put a bottle of scent, can of pop, and pliers or clippers in the Handie-Hold It.

You "could" use a chain or cable & "tie" the box end wrench to the rod holders, or use a carabiner clip and hang it on the T bar.

I've fished with a friend that has rod holders w/knobs .... I prefer using a wrench ;)

Of course Gin Dog, I was using Cumberlands when you fished with me. If I adjusted, it was a quick turn of the knob, so I can see why you didn't notice. As for the hi-teks, they are perfect the way they are.

Different weights in the boat from side to side would cause for an adjustment also.
