That's bad. But why was he running 70 mph??

Sounds like they left ALOT of people out of the loop to be careful around these towers! How is anyone to know there's a danger whether youre idling or running 70?
The gentleman's nickname was ski and he was a super super guy.

I didn't know "skee daddy", but several of my freinds who did are hurting. Not a boater error. Gary Thacker, who is one of the best local bass fisherman in the area was driving. I am curious as to how long tva knew the line was down.

I pulled into cowford ramp around 445p and I could see the lines in the water. They let us cross under next to the bank so I could go up to browns ferry and I didn't know it happened til my wife called me around 7.
The news say they let the barge traffic know they were pulling line but not the public. The news people don't get everything right though.

TVA's official statement includes the following: These power lines had been low for several days while utility crews worked on them. The Morgan County Rescue Squad said warnings were going out to shipping boats, but sport fishermen would not have received them.

Tennessee Valley Authority has confirmed it owns those lines. A statement from the TVA said:

"Tuesday's accident was an unusual and unfortunate occurrence. Our thoughts go out to the family of the boater who was killed. We are taking this very seriously and are working closely with the authorities to understand the facts around this event. TVA exercises all appropriate caution when we do our work at all times. The safety of the public, our employees and our partners is our top priority."

I would say that they did not exercise any caution when they were doing this work.

The shipping boats were top priority I guess. Seeing as how they were advised of the work being done.

Should have had flags or something. Unacceptable.
