New project!
Well, I've been away from jig tying but it's time I return. Once I had a deluxe setup that I designed, portable and contained all my supplies. Like a dummy I sold it. Well I just have got to build me another one. It looked like this.

This time there will be a few changes that hopefully will improve the design. I only had a cheap AA vise and it worked well, but with all the effort I put into making this case, I think it deserves a nice vise. I am looking for ideas and suggestions to consider before I start making the new ones. Last time I only built 2, and did not create templates to refer back to on future builds. I will this time.
If you can post pics of anything you think would be beneficial, that would be great. I will take comments and pics into consideration on this next design.
Now for the good part. Last time I had an overwhelming request for availability. I am not building these to sell. However, I will build several of these and they will be used for a good purpose. I haven't decided exactly how yet, I have to brief Slab on this.... but I hope that one of these can be used to generate donations toward CDC and be awarded in a raffle type contest. There may be more than one available for CDC members through different types of forum support. It's my way of saying thank you to all the members and helping the forum along the way.
Remember to voice your suggestions, they just might be added.
Thanks,
Brandon Jennings

One thing you may consider is a way to put in one of the nice low cost Foam Renzetti tool caddies, but I am not sure how that would work with tools standing in it when it's closed. However it would concentrate the tools in a place that you can also use them like they are stored?? Not sure just a thought.
as for a vise I would read through the Ohio In-depth study they did. Here is a link. A little old now, but still very good!

Thanks Skip, I noted this in my notes and I will follow thru on checking into how it would work. It sounds cool, and I'll read that thread, I have seen you refer to it before. Going from a cheap vise to quality one, I am sure will be costly, but for my personal case I hope to move up in quality.

Also note the little foam tool caddies don't cost a lot, maybe $20 or so. I have a big station, but have more tools than I can put in it so I added one of these foam tool caddies and it's pretty nice.

Awesome idea my friend. It is people like you who make this site so great.

what would a box like that be worth? Reason I'm asking. I received an older one with the tools, vise thread and a lot of tying material. I don't make ties and will probably sell it. Sorry for taking your thread. First time I seen one like it. Thanks Frank

it would be nice to see a tool holder made for our threads and bobbins and so forth that we could set on the bench to put that stuff into I think your boxes would be outstanding and I'm sure that the guys would really like to find out if you would consider making them up great ideal.

thanks

A little bit bigger picture ,but you can see the dowel pins for spools of thread and under that flat wooden area in the middle is ahiddne storage area for the tools, on the far right bottom corner is the vise base that flips up for use and folds down for storage. In the upper part there is storage for materials.
Great ideas have been posted and many I already have inmy mind how to incorporate, pretty much if I can visualize it I can build it so pics really help me. Keep the ideas coming and thankyou all for your post.
