I'm sure this question is answered in pulling cranks somewhere, but I am going to ask the experts. If I pull straight off the back of the boat will my old 6.5-7 foot green carp rods work ok. Ive got a couple of 12's that i use to pull off of the sides with, but i think pulling straight off the back will be easier with less tangles. I dont think they will be to stiff will they?

I pull two med-lt bass rods off the back with long poles off the sides. I don't like all lines off the back. I think the boat going over where your baits are running affects the fish some. I seem to consistently catch most of my fish on my 16' poles off the sides.

Depending on how your holders are set up, but you could pull your short rods off the side some and still have plenty of separation with the 12 ft poles and get baits out from right behind the boat.
