iPilot tearing up my transducer cable

Yesterday I went fishing and when I anchored using my iPilot on my Powerdrive V2 it would wind itself up to the point of shutting off. When it did this, it made a cut in my transducer cable going to the transducer on the TM. I have never had this happen before and am now wondering if I need to move my transducer to the transom. Has anyone else had theirs wind around far enough to cause something like this? I have plenty of slack in the line. Lickily it didn't cut a wire but just tore the outside jacket and shielding.:banghead

Also, has anyone tried putting a dual beam and a DI transducer next to each other on the transom?

I would mount the di a tad bit deeper than the dual beam because of the fan effect cone angle of the di. Mine ain't dual beam, but dual frequency 83/200 which works well on the 83(worse case).

Here's a couple pictures of what I did. I happened to have an extra depth collar for the trolling motor, so I used it, and a 1/4" turnbuckle. Threaded one end of the turnbuckle into the depth collar with a locknut to hold it tight. I then ran the xducer cable up through the other eye of the turnbuckle. After that, I wire tied a bungee cord to the T/M shaft at the top, ran it down through the eye the xducer cable went through. I put some tension on the bungee, then wire tied it to the xducer cable with a piece of rubber tubing to protect the cable. This set up with the stand off keeps the cable from getting pinched in the mount, and when the I-pilot turns more than 360, the bungee allows it to pull more cable out. I don't run the transducer cable down the iPilot but I've definately seen the motor rotate more than the guide says it would. 2 1/2 times or more sometimes.

Just another reason I wouldn't want one!!!!

I never had any trouble, but I left enough cable at the head for about 3 or so full rotations.
