It worked great for about 2 hours after install, anchored, started night fishing with a light, turned back light down for a few minutes then turned unit off to save batteries. When I turned it back on screen went to elite lowrance and locked up wont even power off. Have to unplug power cord to kill it. Am I doing something wrong? Its Saturday and customer service is closed. Sure would like to play with it some more this weekend. Help Please
I just got one of those on my boat. Can't help you much since I have only used mine twice. If powering down and back up (unplugging) does not reboot it and it is frozen on one screen you may have to send it to be looked at. If you have a mapping card in the slot I would take it out and try rebooting without it.
Hate to hear about problems with this unit, much as it costs. Mine works OK but the refresh rate on the charts page is really slow. It goes blank for a few seconds before it refreshes the screen if I am running at speed.(20MPH) Yours do that??

I dont have a card in it, installed it, an hour later was on the lake, when I turned it on it was slow to leave start up screen but it went to page selected and worked fine. I could not get mine off of the map of the USA never did see my lake. Needed more time to learn, but now it wont work, tried pressing every button nothing works. Power off with the plug.
Sounds like it was faulty from the start if the map never worked right. You should have been able to zoom in to your location on the lake and see basic mapping even without a card. It has the Lowrance basic mapping built in so you have to go a menu setting to select a different mapping source if you use an external card.
I know how frustrating it is to deal with a defective product.

SeaRay, When you power on, does yours go to elite lowrance screen for several seconds before coming on? Mine I thought stayed on that screen to long before going to a page.
Yes but it did not seem excessive. When I get back to the house I will turn mine on and see how long it takes (assuming I can remember to do it???)

Do a hard reset. Take any cards out that you may have in it then - HDS hard reset - Hold both ZOOM IN and ZOOM OUT, press and release PWR. Continue to hold both ZOOM buttons until unit boots to map.
So I guess the elite 7 has a hard and soft reset like older lowrance units? My old 334 locks up quit often and has to be reset
