A crazy thought, but lower Red River for sacalait?

Old river/spring bayou is full of gators and grass, Innis is too high, Larto is full of people. Horseshoe has no fish.

anyone ever try, and succeed on the pool 1 or 2 for sacalait, maybe put out a couple gat floats and fish in between.

any tips on the gar floats, done it before in the marsh, but not on the river.

:welcome to the forum Beanfarmer.......sounds like you are from the Marksville area....don't know much about the Red or the others except I do fish Old River at Innis sometimes...some of our guys are from your area so maybe they can help you out....

Yes, the red river is good at times.......not soo much the river itself, but most any of the many oxbows on it....very dependent on the water level which is good right now..... I use the rock jetties as my guide when crossing the river on the new Moncla Bridge,anytime you see the rocks sticking out, the water level is good, if the rocks are under water, I stay home....
