Will 40 fish is not a bad haul.
more than I want to clean wtg
we let them all go.
I was out there several times last week looking for the walleye, whites, wipers, etc. Didn't have a hard time finding them on my depth finder, but getting a consistent bite was the tough part. Caught some of each but no real pattern, fishing seems tougher out there now than it was a month ago.
Did you find your fish shallow or deep? Ours have been coming anywhere from 5-25ft deep.
We are anywhere from 5 to 20 feet deep. Our usual summer humps and things weren't producing at all....i think alot of it had to do with the holiday boat traffic. The bite was much better in the middle/heat of the day then at prime time before dark it completely shutoff. We caught alot of white perch and saw tons of shad in schools around the boat but the game fish were gone. Of concern was the whites we were catching were very thin which i can't understand unless it's the summer water temps? They should have plenty to eat but they didn't look good at all honestly.
I've found several of last years good spots for walleye, white, and wipers aren't producing this year, but have found other areas that are producing better this year. One big difference this spring/summer is that the lake is ~4.5ft+ lower than it was last year, which have seem to move some hot spots around. We also caught a lot of white perch, both deep and shallow, they seem to be everywhere. Hopefully things straighten themselves out once we get further into the typical hot July weather pattern (but I'm not complaining about last weeks 70-80deg days :) ).
