I am working on getting my Spider Rig ready for summer. I have 14ft B and M rods but I don't know what reel to put on them. Any suggestions? I want to get it right the first time....:scratchhead

There will be an opinion for every person that responds. It mostly depends on what you prefer and the size that feels right to you. The reels are mostly just something that holds the line. Some people like tiny spinning reels, some larger spinning reels, some like tiny baitcast reels (like those from Wally Marshall) and some traditional baitcast reels.
I began with small (not tiny) spinning reels and, over the years, have gone to old baitcast reels that I had lying around unused. I just personally prefer the balance of BC'ers. If you want tiny spinning reels the consensus on the Texas fishing forum is the Pinnacle Tiny Deadbolt (at Academy for about $20 ea.) I was skeptical of all the uptalk about this reel but decided to buy one to see for myself. It's a great tiny reel with a good drag - designed for 2, 4 & 6lb line. I use it only on an ultralight rod for casting. Good small spinning reels are the Cardinal 101 or 102. I never cared much for the tiny baitcast reels because most do not have a level wind. As I have bought new baitcasters for my dipping rods I have taken the older baitcasters and put them on my spider rigs rods. I also use those for longline rods. I, with one exception, use only BC reels with flipping switches for dippin and pitching (Huckabee style)and vertical fishing deep brushpiles, deep intersections and bridges. That's my preferred method at least 90% of the time. I only longline or spider rig when vertical jigging fails me.
My $.02 - I'm sure you will get many more opinions. Just remember, what feels good to you is probably best.
I agree with IkenI

okuma line counters 15 or 20's
BAITCASTERS WITH A THUMBAR WITH ATLEAST 5 BALL BEARINGS . YOU WILL NEED THEM WHEN YOU ARE FISHING LESS THAN THE LENGTH OF YOUR ROD . :ThumbsUp
go to ms and ask this question one answer okumas might be a few that dont say that but 90 perent will
Both Baitcasters and spin cast have there pros and cons. But do not buy the trigger spin reels. They are terrible! I have 14 ft rods with older Abu Garcia reels for a few reasons: good drag system, your able to fine tune what depth your fishing, and they make your pole a little heavier so they don't blow around in the wind so much! The only thing about spin cast that is great is they sit underneath the pole so your able to grab the pole for a smoother hook set ;) EB
Folks use the Okuma's for pulling cranks. I use a small spinning reel. Plueger Presidential to be exact but andy reel with a good drag will work. Lots of folks use the baitcasters with thumb bar but I have never seen the need for them myself. I figure if the spinning reels are good enough for Capps and Coleman then they are good enough for me.
All those spinning reels were just to bulky for me, switched to bait casters with flipping switches, found a box of them on ebay, think I paid 40 bucks for 6 of them
