Ohio River Walleye
1st time I've ever caught one myself other than Lake Erie. I was fishing some rocky runoffs/points that dump into the Ohio river in the Maysville area and caught this one last Friday. At least that's what I think it is. Didn't have the dark splotches that a Sauger would have. Small fish but at least it was a new species.

She's a walleye alright. That uniform golden color gives it away. I always have a ball seeing what different species I catch while crappie fishing.

If you raise the dorsal fin and it has a black spot at the back bottom it is a walleye, but if it has black spots all over the fin it is a sauger. We catch large numbers of them in the Cumberland river below the dam in the winter here

Looks suspiciously like a Sauger to me. It is a family member and you can catch crosses some folks call Saugeyes at least so I have been told...!

Eyes also have a white lobe on the bottom part of their tail. That fish doesn't have such a feature.
