I just ordered one of these units. I have a Navionics basic map card in my HB at present. If I read the specs correctly on the Elite 7, that chip will not work in it. Is that correct?
How is the built in mapping on the Elite 7?? Hate to drop another $200 on this unit.

Yes, I went over to the dark side. Have had HBs for the last 25 years. First Lowrance I've ever had.

Duhhh. Guess that makes my question kinda moot. :bash I did read that it takes the mini card, but it slipped my mine. Should get it Monday so I will have to paly with it to figure it out
how you liking the elite 7 ?
Well so far so good. I don't have a chip yet so all I get on the water is this pretty blue lake with no contour lines. I have a navionics chip in my HB which is now up front so I am used to seeing that level of detail.
After looking at several of the DI only units I decided I wanted a unit that did 2d sonar as well as DI and I am glad I made that decision. The DI images are hard to decipher and the clarity is not as good as with the 2d sonar but DI shows you some images that you can't see on the regular sonar. I really have not had time to use it much. My Grandkids are visiting and I have only been out once with the new unit and we were fishing from an anchored position at night so it was not much use just sitting there.
I am sure I will like it a lot for the much larger screen and the 2 methods of scanning, just have to get a chip and get use to using it.
I did buy a mini SD chip and download an upgrade to the software it came with and I can also save screen shots to that chip once I figure out how to do it.
