Belated western md report

I'm a long time lurker on the site and haven't posted much. But last Sunday I fished a western Md impoundment and did decently on the crappie and figured I'd share the report. We found the crappie schooled very tightly to each other and suspended in about 8 foot of water. Water temps were averaging 72 and the water was a bit cloudy due to windy conditions. Conditions were overcast with high winds and occassional rain. temps were in the 60s. All crappies were caught using bass assassins and Gulp smelts fished under floats. The fish averaged 9 - 10 inches. Wound up boating 14 in about an hour and a half. The fish were suspended about 3 foot below the surface and preferred the lures about 2 foot below the floats.

Welcome aboard ,nice report. We have friends that live in Waynesboro that come down this way and fish and crab with us a couple times a year. Another friend of my goes up there to make deer sausage and bolongo with some guys every year, they all bring there meat and work together .

Small world! I moved to waynesboro 15 years ago from the Boonsboro Md area. I primarily still do most of my hunting and fishing in Md, though. I usually make it down to assateague a couple times a year to surf fish and we own a place near Deep Creek that I hunt and fish from a lot.

I didn't put it in my last post but the crappie were in post spawn mode. They usually spawn in mid to late May up that way.
