Please tell a newbe how you rig them for spider rigging.
Do you have your weight (perhaps one egg around 1/8th to 1/2 oz.) 12 to 18" above the critter, with a live minnow?
What colors are your favorites?
I'd appreciate any tips
Thanks

I rig mine two ways. First way is with the weight on the bottom. I tie about 4ft of 6lb lo-vis Stren to a barrel swivel, drop down about 12" and tie a 6" loop knot with a fasnap(for quick change of hook colors.) drop down 12-16" and tie another 6" loop with fasnap. Drop another 8-10" and tie a snap hook for the weight. Other way is the same, except I use a egg sinker between the two loops and no weight on the bottom. You can run the line through the sinker several times so it doesn't slip, or just put a small splitshot below it.
For fun fishing I fish them with just one on the bottom and a 1/4-1/2 oz (depends on depth and wind mainly) eggs sinker 12-18 inches above the critter. I use a loop knot and hook the minnow under the chin up through the nostril. If I am in a pretty snag free situation or tourney fishing I use tandem using a Capps and Coleman style rig. I like orange, pink, and white and chart colors the best and blue n white or Black and Chart patterns are good. Critters work on Just about any lake I spider rig on. Good Luck
I use mine very similar to what CMJ described. I tie on a large FaSnap on the bottom. This is where I put my weight. I use bell sinkers and according to depth I'm fishing, type of structure, wind, etc. I will snap on the size weight I need. Above that, I use a drop loop with a FaSnap on it, drop is 4"-6" in length. At times I will go to a double rig.
As far as colors, I like pinks, yellows, chartreuse, so far. I'm still experimenting with colors on the lakes I fish.
Same as above. Anything with chartreuse in it. Also black and blue
I use capps & Coleman riggs most of the time with a 1/2oz weight. as for as colors they all will catch fish !!! I have been doing real good this year on orange , orange& chart. blue & white but a lot depends on the water your fishing!!!!!
I tried the capps and coleman but ended up with a big mess by the time I got to my fishing hole. So, I cut it all off and tied a single one to a 18" leader below a swivel with an egg sinker above. I really went back to my same old method of spider rigging. But, with much better results. I am a beleaver.
