from today

I guided a husband and wife from Iowa today. The biggest bluegill was an 11" coppernose that weighed 22 ounces. Here are a few photos:

All these were caught on live red wigglers - the bluegill in this particular pond laugh at artificials.

Thanks, guys! Now I'm thinking that the biggest one may have weighed more than 22 ounces - an outdoor writer on another site asked if my scale was accurate, and said to him this fish looks more like 1-10 or 1-12. I had thought the same thing when I weighed it.

Young Gun, they don't get this big just on their own - it takes a lot of work! I'm still waiting on the first two-pounder, hopefully soon.

Yes, these fish are fed - a 45% protein food that I get out of Pennsylvania.
