I bought these 3 yrs ago and are working fine, will never rot. Ideal for Boat Lifts !
Wilbur, will your boat start to slide off on a steep ramp if you dont hook strap first, or can you unhook and back down ramp with no worries?Quote:

I used composite 1 x 4 on top of my bunk boards and they are slick . Been on for 3 years with no problems . Under $20 at Home Depot . Definitely don't unhook your boat on the ramp or attempt to go up the ramp without a strap.
I counter sunk the screws about 1/4 to 3/8 to keep the screws below the wear surface .
if i guy just put on the composite on say the front half of the bunk boards do you think the boat would set on there if you unhooked it or while you where loading it and not slide off? I would make that last 3 feet easier to get the boat on and up to the wench.
I wouldn't take a chance on it. It might not slide all the way off but I wouldn't want to take that chance with my boat.
my worry is hooking it up on a steep ramp becasue it would keep sliding back.
The ones I have arent that slick, I never unhook at the top, I always wait till the waters edge. When you take strap off it doesnt move till its floating. These have a textured side to them.
If your bunk boards are 2x4's with the wide side down, one inexpensive solution is to get a couple of plastic 4x4 deck post covers, rip them lengthwise and screw them on the boards with the screws in the side of the bunks. They work really well and let the boat slide easily. The other (more expensive) alternative is to buy "Glyde Stiks" (google them). I've got two trailers with each of these setups & both work well. (DON'T UNHOOK 'TIL YOU'RE READY TO LAUNCH!!!).
