Something Different!
Decided to change things up a little today, so I loaded up the kayak and hit up a farm pond for some flyrod bassin! My bait of choice was a #8 Mossy green Booglebug popper, and the fish loved it! I caught 2 green sunfish, 2 Redear sunfish, a channel catfish, several crappie( yeah that's right the crappie were hitting on top water) and too many bass and bluegill to count! I also witnessed one of the most awesome feeding frenzies that I have ever seen! The bluegills were swimming with about half of their backs out of the water as they were sucking up something that was hatching on top of the water when all of a sudden the water exploded and continued rapidly blowing up across the whole pond! Sitting that close to the water had me thinking about "Jaws", it was that outrageous and violent!! There are definitely a lot of big bass in that pond!!

Got a heck of May fly hatch this week, gills in my little pond been feasting on um soon as they touch the water, especially by overhanging trees on shore. Been making for easy bait getting on a dry fly. Big flats and channels have been good on the set lines in 3 to 15fow. Figure its related to the gills feeding and the crappie spawn. Normal deal.

That is some fun stuff. I need to find my fly rod. Might be in my folks garage, I haven't seen it since 05.
