Depth finder battery

Got a question about a battery. What kind of battery life would you expect a 12 volt 7 amp battery to get only powering a lowrance elite 5 dsi. I currently have a hummingbird 175 and it runs off the same battery as my 30lb trust min Kota and I can't get a whole day of trolling and running the depth finder out of it. Was thinking I could run the depth finder off of the smaller battery and not have to find space to put another one. I have a 1542 John boat for hunting that I fish out of. What y'all thinks? Thanks

If those two pieces of electronics, and by far the troller is the greater load, eat through the capacity of your battery then I would look at a new battery there first IMO. You do put a charger on it as soon as you get home?

Most sonar units will shut down below 10v. Speed coil type trolling motor don't care. It keeps on running even if the prop quits spinning, it keeps on blood sucking the battery if it is turned on. Ohms law.

Paul .... according to the Operations Manual http://www.lowrance.com/Root/Lowranc...0153-001_w.pdf the unit draws 630 micro Amps @ 13.5 Volts (see 1st page titled "Specifications" at the end of the manual)

Cane Pole may be able to translate that into hours of use, before it drops below the 10V barrier. I don't have a clue :dono :banghead

Most batteries have a time vs load discharge table (relative to temperature). Look the battery chart up. I would believe 650 milli amps, but not the micro amp rating pappy.

Thanks guys. I bought the cheapest deep cycle battery I could from Walmart trying to do this crappie fishing thing on a budget. Too bad that's going out the door. Ha. I do try and charge my battery as soon as I get home if not within a day or two. It's probably only 4 months old. Ill try and look up those charts.

Thanks crappie. I've already been reading it when trying to decide if I wanted to take the jump. I'm sure ill have some questions

Check out the 12v deer feeder batteries available at Academy sports, or Gander Mtn, even Cabelas has 'em with their own charger. I use one in my yak, ran a Mark 5 pro for 4+ trips at 4hr/trip. The DSI may discharge the battery a bit quicker than a regular 2d FF, but should still last all day long imo.
