Can I mount the transducer on my trolling motor? I have a 997 and was told because of it's size it had to be mounted on the transom.

Can I mount the transducer on my trolling motor? I have a 997 and was told because of it's size it had to be mounted on the transom.
There's also some guy who makes a nifty bow mount for transducers. Can't remember off of the top of my head at the moment though. :)
