You need to get yourself a good vent hood. Some of the manufacturers of molds recommend 100 cfm per square foot of hood. Go tp bears baits forum and you can get tons of info about this. I am in the beginning stages of building one for myself. I'm going to use about 14" duct and about a 1500 cfm fan. I do it as a hobby and don't plan on selling the first bait, which means I don't get to pour that often. But the times when I do pour I plan on being safe and comfortable. Plus I got an 8 yr old boy making every step that I make and I don't want him breathing that toxic fume.
Castle is right about Bears having good info on this topic. I have spent a lot of money in this area. Having family with COPD and Lung cancer, I dont want to play around with my lungs! I just bought another 2 speed fan thats a wall mount with louvers on the outside. I doubt my AC is going to keep up with it. :( I also wear a fresh air respirator while pouring. Another thing to remember is that if you are sucking air out you need fresh air coming in.
My work area is next to the garage door. I keep the door open and wear one of those painters ventilation masks.
I have a stovetop over my workbench and blow everything outside and besides I can open up the garage door to ventilated more also I have a big fan blowing does stink out of the room I try to use everything I can do keep it well ventilated I believe this stove will lead if you can make a whole going outside is the best tried to get the more powerful ones to suck fumes and smoke out does not hurt at all to have all the ventilation that you can get.

Softball Dad if you buy a respirator be sure its the one for ORGANIC vapors. You can get them at home depot. I think the filters last around 8 to 10 hours. I got tired of buying the replacement filters and upgraded to a fresh air mask with a compressor.
