Paddle Tail mold review

I recently purchased a couple different paddle tail molds. The first being Basstackle's 655 tiny ringed swimbait. The machining on this mold is top notch! This by far has the smallest section around the paddle that Ive seen giving it great action even at the slowest speed. The rings also set it apart from the other baits Ive used. Now all this machining comes at a price... $120 for a 5 cavity mold. One of my favorite things about this mold is that it has an injection port for each cavity. This will allow you to use the twinjector to shoot laminates! I just keep a clamp on this mold at all times and shoot it every time in making a batch of something else.

I also got in a Jacobs 1.75" paddletail. This ones a 10 cavity that does sport the larger opening fitting the standard 5/8" injector. This mold is less expensive coming in at $75, but the amount of machining isnt there on this mold. THe mold shoots great. Its fairly easy to put the tails back in this mold if wanting to do two color baits like the ones in the picture. I gave a side by side shot to show the difference of the two baits. Both of these baits will definitely catch fish, and I would recommend either mold. If you had the extra cash I would probably splurge and get the Basstackle.

Sure are nice looking plastics, looks like those rings may give off some extra actions/bubbles. Sure like them colors in the top pict.

If you wouldn't mind can you explain how you inject two colors? I watched a video where right and left sides were two colors using 2 injectors and a block that separately injected the two colors into the main port at the same time but you can't do a tail section an accent color( like yours)and the body another. how do you do that? Got to be time consuming. Sorry I re-read the post the top mold has individual ports still would like to know how you did the bottom on. Reason I stared using slider jigs this year ( paddle tail) they knocked it out of the park..thinking about pouring my own!

Lift, For a two color body/tail: Example black with chart tail. Shoot the mold with chartreuse. Open the mold, cut the tail section off and replace them in the mold. Close the and shoot your black body. Always shoot the body color around 350 degrees to get a good bond between the two colors.

That is what I do with my paddletails. I do like the rings on yours. I am satisfied with just a basic 4 cavity two inch paddletail mold that I have. The paddletails are wonderfil baits and will catch multi species of fish.

I know what you mean. THe paddle tail kicked the curly tail's but 3 to 1 for me this season. See ya on the pond.
