Mounting HUGE LSS-2 HD Transducer

Hello! I am struggling to determine the best place to mount the large LSS-2 HD transducer. My boat has a small step and I thought about mounting it there, but some have said not to. I thought about mounting it up on the transom about the step, but the motor blocks a good portion of the transducer... What have you done?

I also ran into the problem of not having enough clearance with the motor blocking my side image. My only fix is to install a jack plate which will give me enough room to get a clear path. Also there are brackets available to mount your tranducers to the jack plate.

I do not have a jack plate on my boat, which is causing some of the issue - that and this transducer is the size of a man's size 12 shoe....

I mounted mine about 12 inches to the left side of the motor as low as possible and used a transducer saver. It works really well. I originally had it mounted on the right and a pro told me to get as low as I could go to get rid of the hulls interference. You can look on line and people put them everywhere. I can use mine up to about 35MPH.

Dallman, Do you have to trim up your motor to get it past the end of the transducer so it doesn't block part of the image? Have any pictures?

Because of the transducer saver you will see the transducer is backwards. You can flip the transducer in the HDS setup.

So is that the flip up kind of transducer saver? How has it worked so far?

I have had no problems with the exception of installing it. No room old hands. It is the flip up type. I have used their stuff with no problems yet.

I mounted mine about 12 inches to the right of my motor on the transom just above the step. I do have to trim up a little but is working good so far.
