I have a Humminbird 570Di that I have had for about a year. It is fused and is never left on the boat. Recently I was unable to turn the unit on. I checked the power at the connection and it has 12v. I was thinking that maybe it was not making contact so I took the cable out of the base and attached it that way and it still will not turn on. Does anyone have any advice or other things I can check? Are there internal fuses that may have blown?

Have you changed your battery or switch recently? The power is polarity sensitive. The red should be hot + black -. I had this issue when I installed my 597
The batt. is hooked up correctly. I found another power cable and tried it on another battery and the unit started up just fine. I went back and messed with the connection on the boat and eventually got it working. It reads 12V at the connection, but still wouldnt turn on. After messing with the +/- connection i finally got it to work. Where the +/- are tapped in must have had a bad connection that was good enough for the multimeter, but not when I turned the unit on.

My buddy said he's had all kinds of power issues with HB and customer service has down 0 to help him. He's selling the units and going with Lowrance. Free updates, and they don't screw up the units.
Bending the pins "slightly" will sometimes help with HB connection issues...

I will remember that next time it happens (hopefully it does not). I took the boat out today and everything powered up fine. Thanks guys.

A bad connection can allow a digital meter to read 12 volts but not pass enough current to run the machine.
