Thats a cool Lake to fish I've caught some big crappy out of their the last couple yrs with my dad. I been wondering how it was right now too. If you do good I may head down their late next week.
Sorry, no crappie reports. I know last weekend the bass fishing was good. Not much help I'm afraid.
Thanks for the report Agrihawg, if you were catchin bass then the slabs should be bittin too, off to see tomorrow anyway.
Wasn't me catching them, but a very reliable source....we swap reports all the time.
Well we made the trip and found a tuff bite for keeper size .Ended up with 12 that were big enough for the grease. Didnt find but a couple shallow all others were caught 11 ft deep over 25 to 30 ft of water. All were taken on pink/fl yellow and a chart/purple jig. Gonna try em again the end of the week.
Well we went to Gillham today and never boated a crappie!!! I know Gillham and Deirks should both be on the same pattern whatever that is cause we sure didn't find em on the banks today and I was casting that blk/chart tail grub out deeper as well. Me and my dad were thinking of heading towards a lake with more fish....and OK lake later in the week. I was wondering if they had pulled back out deeper/post spawn pattern where they are virtually impossible to catch until they get on there Summer pattern??? I did mark a few fish on deeper brush today(25FOW marked from 12-18') but I'm thinking they were perch given we got a few bites but no takers and did catch a couple bream.
By the way water temp was right around 70 degrees what was it over on Deirks??
Temp was running 64.6 in the morning and was right at 67.0 when I left.
Well I know down around Texarkana they are still catching crappie up on the banks so you'd think they would still be up this far North??? As I said though Gillham, dierks, and dequeen lakes are not just over populated with crappie and they are sucking the bottom outa my favorite OK lake. We may still try our luck across the state line once this lil bit of rain moves on out.
