HDS Touch units

Since the new touch units come with built in Structure and DownScan, can I hook up a HDS 8 Gen 2 to the back of this unit via ethernet and then buy the proper transducer and get Strucute and DownScan on the HDS 8 without having to buy a LSS-2 box? I know the new HDS 9 touch units come with 2 ethernet ports on the back. I have a buddy that want to give me a good deal on a HDS 8 (no structure scan box, only sonar right now), but I am also considering getting a HDS touch 9 for the console, I would love to be able to get Structure and DownScan to the 8 without buying a $500 box. If anyone knows if this will work please let me know. I have sent an email to Lowrance but have not got a response yet. Thank in advance for any help.

Yes. You plug the SS transducer into the Touch unit and connect the HDS8 by Ethernet, and you're in business. I have the same setup with a HDS12 Touch and it works great.

The only problem is both units will use the same Transducer wherever that may be mounted.
