I currently am using a motor guide foot controlled trolling motor. At the end of the day, using this foot controller, my knees hurt and even swell. I am days getting over it. My question is, what kind of tiller (with extended handle) operated trolling motors are available and which one would be the best application for me. I welcome all opinions. I will be installing a new one soon. I use a basstracker "pro 16" panfisher boat with stick steer. Thanks in advance for all imput.
might try moving the foot pedal closer or further away if possible, or mounting the pedal on something to raise it up, may just need to "adjust" the pedal a bit to see if you can avoid the knee pain before buying a new TM
I built an angled platform for my Tm pedal. Used some scrap 3/4 plywood. It helped me get the correct angle and I can go through the full rotation of. Steering.

Thanks for all the info and advice. I just returned from Bass Pro and I ordered a tiller controlled motor for my boat. The limited space in which to operate the foot control left me few options on relocation of the foot control. So now I'll have a fairly new foot controlled motor to sale to someone who needs one, LOL. Again, thanks for the replies. Sddletrmp, extreme upper Toledo Bend.
I don't think I will ever own another foot operated one. I got a true tiller handle one when my Dad passes away. It was built like an outboard motor, I just pulled the nut and bolt out of the shaft and spun the head 180 degrees. I just reacently bought another one one here and it is great, you pull the handle to go forward and then push it in for reverse. I just got tired of the cables and peddle on the bow. It sure gives me a lot more room on the bow.

Thanks Trophy King II and all you folks for the advice. I have visited the Dr. on many occasions. Had surgery on right knee in '82. I'll just have to put up with it at times and when it gets too bad, have the Doc draw the fluid off. Have installed the tiller mount but haven't had a chance to go out yet. Am having too much fun in Mountain View, Ar right now. Will get back to fishing in the fall. The crappie done took the lock jaw in my neck of the woods.
