luck in finding anything, so I will ask again. I have a 90 Merc Oil injected 2stroke, I have always used Quicksilver but was wandering if anyone had used another brand with good success. Not tryin to be cheap as I want the best for my motor but I see other mention of brands like "Royal Purple", Marvel, Pennzoil and other and was wandering want the consensus was on this

I used to use Pennzoil Two Cycle Outboard oil in the old Merc that I used to have. They have the QuickSilver and the Pennzoil both at WalMart......too bad they don't carry YamaLube . No boat dealer in Tupelo anymore.....I had to go out of town to get oil and filter for my Yammy 4 stroke
I can understand that G, I think Lake Hill carries Yamalube and filters or they did anyway. Im gonna go with a 4 stroke one of these days, I think I may go with Yammy too :) I like Honda but think Honda has priced themselves out of "MY" ballgame. Been thinking bout callin BRM and see what a 115 Yammy would run. Aint gonna do anything right away unless I could find a cracker jack of a deal. Yea all I find here is Quicksilver or Pennzoil but they are about the same price and same specs, so I will just stay with Quicksilver unless someone knows of something that is better. I see talk of synthetic but I don't think I wanna go that route eitherQuote:

I was down at Columbus the other day and picked up some oil and filters and some Yamaha Ring Free for my boat while I was down there. KInda miss not being able to just go to town here local and get what I need at the boat place. I can remember when Tupelo had three boat dealers and now none. Kinda unreal for a town this large with other smaller towns surrounding it. It would be a good place for one if somebody would run it right I think.

KDavid, I haven't used him, I have always had Honda motors (with the exception of this 90 and a 25 Merc) and my brother-in-law was the dealer so I always had any work done there, but to be honest the only I have did to the 2 motors I have had was one I let sit and had to have the carbs cleaned and the other one was replaced the water pump. They are pretty much worry free with them being 4stroke, like the Yamaha's and other 4strokes Im sure. I just know the 25 Mercury pull start that I had was a good one and sold it to buy the 4 stroke Honda, just didn't use any gas at all but wouldn't run as fast as the Merc tho. The Honda 25 was quiet a bit heavier to. I use to have a 7.5 Honda that I used on my little bath tub boat (14x36) and It had a 1 gallon gas tank, I would troll all day long all spring and then pour the rest of the gas in my lawnmower LOL that baby just didn't use any gas at all hardly. The 25 was that good but it sure was efficient and quiet too :)Quote:

Larry have read lots of study's on outboard oil. As long as it meets the TCW -30 standard it should be good in your motor. Some folks won't use anything but oil by their manufacture. I used Walmart brand for years without any problems on 2 different motors. Only motors that need Synlube are race motors turning in the 10,000 + RPM range.
What cray said. I have the same motor (jet drive) and I just look for the TCW-30.
