Screen protectors and factory anti glare

Fingerprint smudges and water spots on glass make my OCD kick in. rotfl

The screen on my Lowrance with the purple anti glare coating is absolutely horrible for attracting both. I'm afraid that eventually I'll forget to wipe off the water spots and wind up with a permanant etch or I'll scratch the screen trying to clean them off.

Protection aside, do the protectors actually create glare on the anti glare coated units? Seems like it would be possible since the glare would come from the protector itself because it is over the top of the coating.

I've got to do something to protect my screen but I don't want to lose the anti glare in the process.

Any thoughts and/or actual experience with these?

Quackstackr, My hds 7 gen 2 came with cleaning cloth and if I remember correctly Lowrance approves Windex WITH VINEGAR...... somebody correct me if this is wrong........crappie1133

Quackstacke, I went back and did a search on my computer .You would be surprised what some people use.There is a product out called Wave Away. I think Tackle Warehouse and Amazon sell it, I know nothing about it. I know Humminbird recommends Windex with vinigar. Some people use mild soap and water and micro cleaning cloth. Thanks. I'm looking for something that will protect the screen from scratches and crud as well. I can see one of my fishing buddies taking a swipe at it with something to dry it off so that they can read it and scratching the heck out of the factory coating. My buddies are rough on my equipment. ha ha

I sent them an email inquiry and they sent one back (same day, rare thing anymore) that said it would not interfere with the OEM coating and should actually enhance the performance of it by 20%-25%. We shall see...
