Thats a good idea! looks like it would work good. I was making mine out of pencil grips that I poke holes in so its just like the tube worms, but a friend of mine showed me to take a pipe cleaner and wrap that around the hook. first 2 laps are tight, then the next several laps are loosely coiled around the hook and the last couple laps are tight again. this works really good too. I like using his method but I am going to try the carpet trick, too.

I saw a post one day that mentioned using foam. Go to a western store and ask for a package ($2.69) of Stentson hat foam. Cut into the size you want and go fishing. Works great. I also go to Lowes and in the plumming dept., hoses, you will find some tan tubing about 1/2". Use a two hole punch, stretch the tubing so you can get in and punch the hole. Saves some money. I also use 5-7 circle hooks.
