Anna crappie
Three Pa boys went to Anna to try some north of the boarder tactics. This past weekend was 60 with rain Saturday and in the low 40s at best with rain sleet and snow on the way home Sunday. But we did manage some fish. The upper bridges worked for us as well as a few spots we had seen fishermen on our past trips. The water was about 1/2 dirty and made jigging a little less productive then minnow soaking. I never used the Berkley gulp minnows for them before but it turned out that was as good as anything. Needless to say with the weather conditions there was plenty of good spots to fish. Was there a crappie tournament on Saturday? The good folks at Anna Point thought we were half crazy (and we are) but understand fishermen. Also we ate at Mineral Dinner and was surprised. Both the pork chop and chicken dinners were $6.50. If you have never been there do not except much for the decor. I would describe it as poor folk 1970. But if you are looking for value this is the place and the food was good and the two you ladies were very kind to 3 grumpy old men. I hope our next out is more spring like.

Glad you did OK. Forecast for this next week is looking bad also. I think I am going to save my gas money this week. In 2 weeks Miss Anna should be a be looking good , so I plan on hitting it hard for crappie. I have found some good meals in several area places. :) Mineral is kind of "living in the past" But I love those places!

You may hit it right on the money. It appears winter is hanging on for the rest of the week. I like the small town one of a kind restaurants and buildings as well. Anna is quite a fishery. I only fished it a few times but have heard all the stories from years ago. Things change and usually not for the better. Perhaps there are too many of us on this earth. Hope you have a good trip, event and let us know about your experience.

Where are you from in PA. I am around Pittsburgh. I really like Lake Anna. I have had a few week trips down there and usually do well. Run into some big bass trying for crappie. Starting to know the lake pretty well. Have had a couple trips with guide Chris McCotter. He is excellent, you can learn alot. I have a place right on the lake rented for 7 to 14 April. I think I might hit it just right. Can't wait!!! Going up to the garage right now to work on the boat even though it is 30 and snowing!!!!

I was born and raised in Washington Co. But live in Cumberland co. for over 30 years. We have some excelent trout fishing in our area and that is what got me to Boilingsprings. I am a flyfishing guide for Pa and due some shows including a few BASS shows and got info. from many of them. I usually only get to Anna early in the spring and early winter. Also I fish in the Williamsburg Va area were my inlaws live. There is some very good warm water fishing in that area also.We had snow here about 2 to 3 inches but it is almost all gone and the sun is shining and feels great. Hope you have a great trip and if you have anything I can help with let me know.
