Fish after the storm
We got a ton of rain from the noreaster last week and the waters were a little messy. Had family stuff going on sat. so that gave the water a little time to settle down for fishing on sun. morning. Started fishing at daybreak nothing going on stuff floating all over thought nothing was gonna bite at all then after the sun got up a little and the water temp went up a degree to 42 a slow but steady bite started. Had a funny thing happen ,line broke when I set hook on a fish it broke above the bobber I watched the bobber moving around so the fish was still hooked as I would get close it would take off so I casted another rod and snagged the bobber and got the lure ,bobber and 11"crappie back.Chart. twister was best . kept these for supper.Fished till 10:30.Attachment 118651

Nice mess....the bobber story reminded me of an old school trick of releasing a crappie with a small bobber attached and watch as he goes back to the main school. Never tried it and maybe a wives tale.

Use a 4" round balloon . I keep a bag of them in my tackle bag I think they were for making "Water balloons" No wives tale it really works . Just don't forget to release your mole when your done catching all of his/her friends.

Not a wives tell. I was doing that back in the early 70's up in PA after an oldtime showed me the trick. Funny story we were teenagers back then and the warden caught us doing that. The warden said it was illegal my buddy said "Sorry didn't think it was a probelm it was the fishes birthday and we thought we would just help out with the party". Warden laughed then gave him a $25.00 citation.

That is good luck to retrieve the fish. Thanks for the report.
