I am looking to replace my finder on my trolling motor. I want GPS, DI, and sonar images. I have been reading about both units and can't make up my mind. What is the opinion of the forum, which would be better? Thanks for help.

This question is like taking a bite of vegetable soup. You are going to get some who says buy Humminbird. The others are gonna say Lowrance is the way to go. Both are great units to have on your boat. However, it comes down to what you are willing to spend out of your pocket. That is the bottom line.
I'm not so sure its that simple in this case. They are both about the same price and each have their own selling points. I am always one to try to get more bang for my buck.
Have owned he 798 (same size as the 597) and the Elite 7HDI both and its hands down Elite 7, way more screen. Just more uni for the same money in my opinion, good luck.
Thanks for the information. I went with the Lowrance Elite 7 HDI Gold Combo. I compared for 2 days and this just seemed to be the better choice. I have only had Humminbird in the past but I liked the features on this one.Quote:
