cabin fever

I need to go fishin', but I'm afraid I can't get my boat back into the shed for all the snow & ice. Tried a few new designs for putting under a dock that's in bad need of some cover. I've got about 20 more beds that need to be in the water. About afraid to put them out right now, MDC has the parking area at the nearest ramp piled full of cedars that they are putting out in the next week or two. Think I'll take a big load to the other end of the lake once the snow & ice are gone.

Perhaps placing a few of them upon the deeper edges of those thoughtfully placed cedars might be "interesting"...

If they place any cedars near the river or creek channels, I might try something along that line.

The first two are new and I've been building the others for a year and an half, maybe 70 or 80 of them. We been catching fish off of the first 15 or 20 we put out, but most were placed in late Summer and early Fall. Hope to start collecting some fish off of the beds we placed at channel junctions here in a week or two. So far my wood beds produce more fish, but these plastic beds are harder for others to find and fish out. Plus my kids and grandkids don't get snagged.

How long do you think before the moss starts growing on them? I like the ideal but wonder how long before they start holding fish????

There has been a lot of debate on here about algea growing on PVC & Plastic. Some think you get faster algea growth if you sand or scuff the material, which may be true. I've tried both and after a few months I say it is hard to tell, but then my duct is pretty scuffed up by the time it is sunk. One bed we sunk early last Summer was producing a few fish everytime we went by it within six weeks. Another bed we sank in March of 2011 produced a few fish in April & May and was totally stacked full come June for about two weeks. I think the water temp has a lot to do with how fast the algea grows also.

Pomme guy those look great! Cant wait to get back to pomme we try to spend at least 3 weekends out of the mont over there in the summer and first 2 weeks of July. Sure miss it.
