I had the battery die on my rider end of last summer mowing season to the point it will not take a charge.
Has anyone added an on-board charger to their rider to maintain the battery, and was it successful?

No reason why it shouldn't work. A lot of people use them on their motorcycle over winter.
I was thinking of permanently mounting it to the rider. Use it like I do the boat. Park it and plug it in.
That will work.
Thought most if not all electric start rider mower engines had a alternator to charge the battery back up after the motor was running. maybe your's went bad, or the battery went bad.
Besides, a charger would probably cost more than a $25 lawnmower battery from WM wouldn't it?
Small Battery Tender unit. Use on motorcycle and mower. Just make sure when buying the small ones that it is auto. Lot of the small 2 amp chargers that they call trickle chargers will not shut off and burn your battery up. Been there and done that.
Have to replace the battery anyway....might as well have it charging while it's sitting.
