Jigging And casting
You should go to a store or get with somebody who has one your interested in and handle them. What I feel is the best to me might not be for you.
As far as Jig Poles...
Ozark makes a fine jig pole.
BnM makes some good ones.
There are pros and cons to both...
BnM IMO, has a better feel, especially the Brush Cutter, but they have "Jankey" eyes.
Ozark has cork handles "which I prefer" and very nice eyes.
I prefer a "Trigger Spin" or "Under Spin" reels on my jig poles.
I will never again buy a BnM untill they do something about the eyes!
Now if your one of them "Spider Riggers" I guess none of the above really matters... Bamboo would probably work just fine... ROFL.
As far as casting...
Crappie fishing, being that your not throwing much weight... IMO a spinning rod and reel is a must.
Walmart carries Abu Garcia Cardinal rods, I prefer the 6'6" Light/Med with the Abu Garcia Cardinal 101 spinning reel.
The Rod and Reel will set you back about $80. Parts are available for these reels.
Hope this helps.
I started using 12' B-n-M Bucks Jig poles but do not like the new model with metal eyes. I have a 12' Ozark and happy with it for verticle jigging. I have a old 8' B-n-M jig pole for casting. If you want advice on poles and jigs to buy contact MEATGETTER as he sells several types.
Welcome to the site...You can't go wrong when your fishing in the Ozarks Baby!!! Dang I should be a marketer. HAHA!!!
Welcome to the site from Fayetteville. currently, for jigging I use Ozark and Todd Huckabee rods. The 10' Ozark is very light, extremely sensitive and has a good backbone.
