Lake Anna 2/27/13
Was supposed to be 62deg today and sunny. Installed new TM last week and needed to try out boat . Seeing some good catches by a few Pro's here, I decided to try my luck at Anna. How hard can it be? ROFL..
Unloaded boat and she fired right up, boat ran great all day! @ 5th cast I landed a 2# bass I am thinking ALLRIGHT! , I made about 50 more cast, and decided to try minnow on slip bobber, rod locker lid slamed down on rod tip and broke 5" off a new rod. Spent 30min with rusty pliers to get it were I could still use it. Then I noticed it was clouding over and winds were getting up, so I ran to my sure fire spot. No fish and only 4" visibility, looked like heavy cream in coffee! WT 42.7. winds were making hissing/bussing noise in my ear, Kinda like noise from empty beer bottle lol! ( heard humming noise all the way home, even stopped truck to make sure It wasn't anything on truck))
I had heard that down lake was much warmer so I ran to lower end of lake, found some WT @47-48 and VERY clear water I could see bait 6-7' down! . Never crappie fished lower part of lake, but tried out a few coves. Found what appear to be some brush piles but nothing on them. Winds were just to rough to make it enjoyable. Several other fishermen must have felt same, cause everyone at landing (except 1 boat) came back at same time.
If anyone fishes Anna , PM me, I would love to get some tips on fishing lower end!

glad you were able to run the ghosts and goblins out of the engine...I'm very new to all of this, so when I'm not catching, its fun to explore new spots, find cover, brush etc...thanks for the report.

DRB, I was temped to drive down to Rapp river when I left Anna, to check out my place, spend night and fish BDR in morning. But decided to double check weather .
Don't see any reports from you, you fishing BDR at all?
Side note to all. My seats are ones that Pan man gave me, using them for the first time this yr, gave me cause to think about him today and wish I had only met him sooner!

I still have never hit BDR and it is on the to do list. I really have fished very little. My kids are 9 and 11 so I am swamped with activities on the weekends. I will have some free time these next few weeks and will report where I go and what I do.

I got to thinking about my lure colors. I mostly used white/bone color that generally works great at Anna. I do remember in my bass fishing days, I used to use darker colored baits when water was muddy. Should I have gone to darker baits?
The only bait I saw was in 40' suppended at 20'. There were alot of virginia heron on shore line thought.

Hey Charlie it takes time to learn a new body of water. That is one lake I have never fished so when you get here figured out give me a hollor :fish I hate to say this but looking at the weather for the next month it will be a tuff spring. Hey Charlie look at the backs of creeks. Tight Lines JIM,B
