Lake Conway Struggles

OK I'm new to the forum and also new to crappie fishing. My family has always done it but for years I refused to slow down from chasing bass and running bass tournaments long enough to try my hand. Well maybe its getting older or just being broke but I have decided to try and learn this year. Anyways not looking for spots or anything to secret just trying to figure out where to start. I have been out twice and have yet to catch anything but Bass...go figure. The first time I went up a creek on the north end fishing 10 FOW but only fishing 2-5 ft deep. Today we moved towards the south end of the lake around 89 and once again only could catch Bass and Drum. today fished mostly 6-8FOW. Also tried some bays around 4 FOW. Fishing minnows, jigs under bobber, and cast jig. I know conditions aren't great right now so that could partly be it but I'm just really frustrated and will take any advice you are willing to share. Heading back out at daylight to give it another try. Thanks in advance

Welcome to Crappie.com. It may be just due to tough conditions all over. I've fished Conway a few times for Crappie and haven't had very much luck, but there are people on here that catch some good fish there.

Welcome to CDC. I think you will get some advice and it sounds like you have the determination to get it. Keep after them and somebody will probably be along soon to point you in the direction you should go.

Welcome. I've never fished conway but fishing has been tough all over the last few days. Just hang with it for now it will get better soon.

Welcome for the North Shore of Lake Conway. I'm no expert, but if you find you a group of shad and some brush, and they likely crappie wont be too far. From the looks of it, the fishing has been a bit tough the past few days after the last storm system came through. I would recommend getting with CrappiePro, Lkconwayguru, CMJ, or Jigginpolejoe as they are an excellent resource for fishing the lake.

Thanks for the input. Nimrod you aint kidding. I swore it would never happen but I was disappointed today when I caught a chunk bass.

Well, I wouldn't put myself in the same category with the rest of those guys, but I can give you a little advice. I dont normally say this, but your best bet tomorrow will probably be Gold Greek. The bigger fish were on brush tonight close to the bottom(10-11ft). I caught the majority of my fish jigging in front of Gator Grass about 18" deep, but most were small. Its just slow right now, so dont get too discouraged.

Welcome. I would use one of the best features of the site, the search button. You will find a plethora of information on here from the past. Gold creek and hwy 89 bridge area are two good areas to look into fishing this time of year. Crappie pro and others have a ton of old posts that get very specific. Hope that helps.
