Santa brought me a Garmin Echo 550. It has a decent size color screen. The images are very clear. They are rated 4.6 stars out of 5. It is a quality product. Price anywhere from $400.00 up. I spent quite a bit of time comparing color finders. This seemed to be the best of the bunch in the price range. You can get a color finder for about $200.00 up, however screen size is small and clarity is not the best. The Echo seemed to be the low end for decent screen size and excellent clarity. Face it, a top quality fish finder demands big bucks.
If you just want a fish finder per say they get a 500 series Humminbird. It has 640X640 display and very easy to use. Check Amazon and you may find it for around $300. Lorance/Eagle were the best going for a long time but Humminbird has now become the best for the money.
I agree. I needed one for the front of my boat and went with the 598. $299 from Bass Pro and it has DI and a GPS. Im happy with it so far.Quote:

I have a Lowrance X96 that I will sell for 90.00 dollars. I upgraded thanks to my wife. I only used it about 10 times. It has a 5 inch screen and 16 level grayscale. It worked well for me and the buttons and menu's are like the expensive HDS line. Good luck with whatever LCR you buy. Wes
PM me and I will give you some info about HBIRD and LOWRANCE.
