Any catch speck in Lake Ashby? or anything else for that matter?
I dont know why there wouldnt be. I know people who have bream fished it and bass fished it and did well. No reason why there would not be healthy specs in it. Only thing I have done there is stopped on my way home from Edgewater and flushed my motor and trailer.
Put a few in the boat a couple of years ago, all were 10"-11" size maybe they've grown-up. A local told me there was a massive fish kill 3yrs prior to my outing, said it was pesticides, maybe someone know's more to the story. Haven't been back since, no flowage through that lake.
That lake has it's issues, pesticides & a hard freeze hurt the fish a couple yrs ago. The water level is up & down, usually down which never seems to help the water quality. I have caught some specks there but no zilla's, nothing even close. If we go we usually cruise around & enjoy the scenery, there is seniors bass club that fish there - in fact they are having a tournament today.
I have had problems before of people stealing stuff out of my truck while I was fishing, must be locals that live close by.
The lake has nothing feeding it except rain water runoff form people's yards & surrounding neighborhoods.
A child was killed by a gator there several years back. Officials found the body and killed the gator, so just a heads up. I've caught specks in most any Deltona area lake but never could eat any knowing the pesticides/fertilizer in their diet. Caught a bunch in the lake at Elckam and Howland, that lake has springs, barely keepers, no slabs. Had lots of fun with em, kept me busy. Friend has a house on that lake and I could leave the boat in the water.
Good info gang, thanks a bunch
