New Terrova and Transducer Question

I have a new Minn Kota Terrova I-pilot with the built in transducer that I won't be using. Instead, I bought a trolling motor mount to mount my HB 597 on my Terrova. The mount has to be located on the prop side of the shaft and a worm screw band holds it on the motor. Trouble is, the 597 transducer is long and skinny and once attached, the rear of the transducer is only 3/8 in. from the edge of the prop. Is this going to work for me or will it be problematic? Also, can the wires from the minn kota transducer be removed easily?

Why would u not use the us2 on the Terrova? Is your 597 a DI unit? I run my 597ci off my us2 transducer and it works great.

I have the di version and was told that transducer was useless for di. My bad for not saying that.

Apparently the motor housing is different with the new US2 transducer models as you can't but a band over the front part of the motor.. What do you think about the 3/8 inch clearance? I'm sceered!

the 3/8" clearance should be ok, that's close to a half inch, just make sure its on TIGHT.

The 3/8-inch clearance may be enough but you could also try mounting the transducer backwards. There is no right-left sonar on this transducer so it will work the same whether pointed forwards or backwards. It may leave you with more clearance between the transducer and prop.

Dimension wise, turning the transducer backwards would cure my ills but I can't imagine it would work as intended. Would rotating the transducer 180 deg. change the image on the screen? Would "up" then be "down"?
